SPD-800: Digital Registry & Traceability Framework is the digital infrastructure and traceability document of the Sustainable Product Declaration system developed by United Metric Association. It defines how SPD declarations, certificates, public summaries, registry records, metadata, QR codes and digital verification information are structured, connected, accessed and controlled within the SPD system. Within the SPD document architecture, SPD-800 is identified as the framework that defines digital registry architecture, metadata, public access and traceability logic.

The purpose of SPD-800 is to ensure that SPD outputs are not static, isolated or easily misused documents. Instead, each SPD certificate, public summary, verification statement and registry record should be digitally traceable to an official and controlled source of information. This strengthens transparency, prevents outdated communication and allows users to verify the current status of an SPD declaration.

SPD-800 defines the structure and logic of the SPD Digital Registry, including registry pages, declaration records, product identity, manufacturer information, certificate status, issue and expiry dates, verification status, version history, public summaries and limitation statements. The registry acts as a controlled reference point for confirming whether an SPD declaration is active, expired, revised, suspended or withdrawn.

A central function of SPD-800 is QR-based traceability. QR codes may be linked to SPD certificates, technical documents, product catalogues, packaging, labels, procurement submissions or websites. When scanned, they should direct users to the official SPD registry page or approved public summary, allowing them to check the declaration status, scope, validity, product identity and applicable limitations.

SPD-800 also supports digital integrity by defining metadata requirements, version control logic, access levels and public disclosure rules. Not all technical evidence must be publicly visible, especially where confidential business information is involved. However, public registry information should be sufficient to confirm the legitimacy, scope, validity and traceability of the SPD output.

The framework works closely with other SPD documents. SPD-600 defines certification and registry rules, while SPD-400 controls disclosure wording and public communication. SPD-300 defines verification status, SPD-200 provides the assessment basis, and SPD-700 supports the collection of data and evidence required for digital registration.

Overall, SPD-800 provides the digital trust and traceability layer of the Sustainable Product Declaration system. Its value lies in connecting SPD outputs to a controlled registry, enabling QR-based verification, supporting public transparency, preventing certificate misuse, managing version history and ensuring that product sustainability information remains traceable, current and responsibly communicated.
